SCLEROTHERAPY (ASCLERA)
Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive treatment used to reduce or eliminate the appearance of small varicose veins and spider veins, typically found on the legs. During the procedure, a specialized solution (sclerosant) is injected directly into the targeted vein, causing irritation of the vein lining. This leads the vein to collapse and eventually be absorbed by the body, rerouting blood through healthier vessels.
What Sclerotherapy Can Treat:
Spider veins (telangiectasias)
Reticular veins (small to medium-sized veins beneath the skin surface)
Small varicose veins
What Sclerotherapy Does Not Treat:
Large, bulging varicose veins
Veins associated with significant venous insufficiency or underlying circulatory disorders
Deep veins not visible on the surface
For large varicose veins, referral to a vascular specialist or alternative treatment options such as endovenous laser therapy or surgery may be recommended.
Post-Treatment Care:
Compression stockings must be worn for 7 to 10 days following the procedure to promote healing, reduce swelling, and improve treatment effectiveness. Patients are advised to avoid hot baths, strenuous exercise, and sun exposure to treated areas during this time.
Sclerotherapy is a safe and effective cosmetic solution for small, unwanted veins — but is not appropriate for more severe or deeper venous conditions.
